Ten years old, it’s an age when we want to hang on to our children’s childhood because the teenage years are knocking at the door and they haven’t quite stopped being a kid. It’s also the perfect time and most overlooked time for a portrait.
We were so excited when Emily asked us to create a portrait for her daughter around her 10th birthday. It’s a sweet season of childhood where they don’t grow quite as fast as the first few years of life, but each year you look back and can’t believe how much they have grown.
Emily wanted this portrait to be extra special, so she chose a painted portrait. We photographed Allie’s session at the beautiful Mynelle Gardens in Jackson. Emily and I worked together to choose the portrait best suited for painting.
The image was digitally hand-painted and then hand brush strokes added on the printed canvas. We were so in love with the results we made one for the studio too.
